Last weekend all three NASCAR racing series – Camping World Trucks, Xfinity, and Cup – raced with the Xfinity and Cup Series in Michigan; while the Truck raced at Gateway.

NASCAR issued a total five penalties with all but one of them related to the lug nut infraction.

In the Camping Worl Truck Series

NASCAR penalized three Cup Series teams, an Xfinity Series team and a Camping World Truck Series team Wednesday for infractions during last weekend’s events at Michigan International Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

In the Camping World Truck Series the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing number 19 truck driven by Derek Kraus was found to have a single lug nut improperly secured. As a result, crew chief Mark Hillman was fined $2,5000.

In the Xfinity Series, the Kaulig Racing number 16driven by AJ Allmendinger was also found to have a single lug nut improperly secured. Crew chief Jason Trinchere was fined $5,000 for the infraction. The penalty does not affect Allmendinger’s race win.

Also in the Xfiity Series, NASCAR has suspended crew member Brian Thomas indefinitely; citing a behavioural infraction.

A total of three teams were assessed a penalty by NASCAR officials.

During the race, Ross Chastain had to take his Chip Ganassi Racing number 42 car to the garage for extended repairs after losing an axle. As a result, number 42 crew member David Fero has been suspended from the the race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night.

The remaining two penalties in the Cup Series were as a result of a lug nut infraction where a single lug nut was found to be improperly secured. Each crew chief was fined $10,000 for the infraction. The teams were the 23XI Racing number 23 car driven by Bubba Wallace with Mike Wheeler as crew chief and the Petty Ware Racing number 51 driven by Cody Ware with Mike Hillman as crew chief.
