Loose lug nuts continue to be an issue for NASCAR teams.

When NASCAR issued the penalty report for teams after the road course races at Watkins Glen International, a total of four lug nut penalties were issued.

In the Cup Series, two teams were charged with having one lug nut improperly secured. As a result of the infraction, the crew chiefs have been fined $10,000.

The two Cup Series teams charged with the penalty are:
The Joe Gibbs Racing number 18 car driven by Kyle Busch with Ben Beshore as crew chief
The Front Row Motorsports number 38 car driven by Anthony Alfredo with Set Barbour as crew chief

NASCAR officials also found two teams in the Xfinity Series also violated the secure lug nut rule. With a single lug nut improperly secured, the crew chiefs were each fined $5,000.

The Xfinity Series teams issued a penalty were:
The Joe Gibbs Racing number 54 car driven by Ty Gibbs with Chris Gayle as crew chief. Gibbs’ race win was not affected by the penalty.
The Joe Gibbs Racing number 19 car driven by Brandon Jones with Jeff Meendering as crew chief

There were no penalties assessed to any teams in the Camping World Truck Series.
