The Camping World Truck Series kicks off a triple header weekend with a stand alone event when they travel to the iconic Knoxville Speedway in Knoxville, Iowa for some dirt racing in an inaugural event.

Postponed due to weather conditions in Bristol, married couple Jessica and Stewart Friesen are looking to be the first married couple to compete on the track.

Qualifying for the Corn Belt 150 will consist of four heat races of 15 laps each with 10 drivers in each heat. Only green flag laps will count with no overtime racing.

The starting lineup for each of the heats was determined by a random draw with teams drawing according to truck owner points.

Drivers will earn points for their finishing position – 10 for first down to one point for 10th place. Drivers will also earn points for each truck they pass on the track. The final lineup will be determined by points earned.

All 40 trucks will compete in the 150 lap main event.


On pit road the crews will only be allowed to fuel the truck and change tires except during stage breaks and drivers must come down pit road during at least one of the stage breaks. There will no be any racing to gain position off of pit road.


Joining Vince Welch and Michael Waltrip in the broadcast booth for tonight’s race is Sprint Car champion dirt racer Kevin Swindell.

John Hunter Nemechek’s team brought the truck down pit road since they will have to start the race from the back of the field. The move will save the tires on Nemechek’s truck since the drivers must start the race on the same set of tires they ran in the heats.

Stage one of the race is 40 laps long, stage two is 50 laps long, and stage three will last 60 laps for a total of 150 laps around the half mile track.

Among the field of regular Truck Series drivers are some dirt track regulars trying their hand at some truck racing.

Derek Kraus brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Tyler Ankrum alongside and edges out to take the lead as the drivers gets three wide across the track.

The caution flag comes out on lap 15 when Johnny Sauter and Chase Briscoe made contact and spun out.

Lap 22, Todd Gilliland and Carson Hocevar battle for the lead with the two drivers swapping it back and forth.

Lap 28, on his bumper, Carson Hocevar challenges Todd Gilliland for the lead; Derek Kraus, Sheldon Creed, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 30, John Hunter Nemechek enters the top 20.

The caution flag comes out on lap 30 after Brian Brown spins out after some on track contact.

Lap 46, John Hunter Nemechek is just outside the top 10 in 12th place.

After staying out on the track, Donny Schatz has fallen out of the top 10 to 15th on old tires.

Lap 48, Todd Gilliland has pulled out to a lead of nearly three seconds on Josh Berry; Carson Hocevar, Sheldon Creed, and Derek Kraus round out the top five.

Lap 50, Todd Gilliland continues to increase his lead and is not three and a half second ahead of Josh Berry.

Lap 55, there are 37 trucks on the lead lap with all 40 drivers still on the track.

Lap 56, Todd Gilliland has a three second lead on Josh Berry; Carson Hocevar, Derek Kraus, and Austin Hill round out the top five.

Lap 59, Josh Berry has closed the gap on leader Todd Gilliland to two seconds; Carson Hocevar, Austin Hill, and Brett Moffitt round out the top five. John Hunter Nemechek is in eleventh place.

Lap 62, Todd Gilliland’s lead is down to just one second over Josh Berry.

Lap 63, Austin Hill takes second and is just a half a second behind leader Todd Gilliland.

Jessica Freisen brings out the caution flag when she spins out again after some contact with Derek Kraus. Morgan Alexander hit a stopped Friesen when Alexander could not stop in time.

Lap 70, the top five are Todd Gilliland, Austin Hill, Carson Hocevar, Brett Moffitt, and Josh Berry.

The caution flag comes out with four laps to go for a big wreck. Jett Noland, Hailie Deegan, Johhny Sauter, Sheldon Creed, and John Hunter Nemechek were all involved in the wreck.

The race goes into overtime.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green/white/checker overtime shootout with Austin Hill on the outside lane and drivers wreck on the restart with the track looking like a county fair demolition derby.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag.

Jett Noland, Chase Briscoe, Donny Schatz, Sheldon Creed, Austin Wayne Self, Chase Purdy, Tanner Gray, Jake Griffin, Josh Berry, Cody Erickson, Chris Windom, Norm Benning, Codie Rohrbaugh, Devin Rouse were all involved in the crash.

After a red flag condition of over 10 minutes to get the trucks cleared off the track, NASCAR displays the yellow flag and the trucks get moving once again.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the second overtime shootout to the finish with Austin Hill alongside. The caution flag comes out once again for a wreck involving Austin Wayne Self and Kyle Strickler.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the third overtime shootout for the finish from the inside lane with Austin Hill alongside. Austin Hill takes the lead as more trucks wreck to bring out the 14th caution flag of the race. Johnny Sauter, Danny Bohn, and Stewart Friesen were involved.

In the fourth overtime shootout, Austin Hill brings the field down from the inside lane with Chandler Smith on the outside lane. Hill jumps out for the lead and the white flag finally waves.

Cars wreck on the track. Austin Hill wins the race for his first win of the season.

Zane Smith and Matt Crafton have secured spots in the playoffs and will join race winners John Hunter Nemechek, Ben Rhodes, Todd Gilliland, Sheldon Creed, and Austin Hill in the playoffs. Only three sport are open as the Truck Series has one final race remaining in the regular season at Watkins Glen on August 7.
