Twelve drivers from different racing series to take to the track in Stafford Springs, Connecticut for some Saturday night short track racing in the new SRX – Superstar Racing Experience – Series.

The stands of Stafford Motor Speedway are filled with racing fans to watch these champions and legends battle it out for bragging rights including NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and car owner Tony Stewart and four time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves.

The drivers will race in identical cars for the summer series sponsored by Camping World.

Allen Bestwick and Danica Patrick call the race from the CBS broadcast booth.

After a random draw, Greg Biffle sits on the pole and will bring the field to the green flag for racing in the half mile track.

Bill Elliott and Doub Coby make contact but the track stays green.

Tony Stewart has been pressuring Willy T. Ribbs for third.

Ribbs is 66 years old and sued his boxing skills to get ready for the racing series.

The caution flag comes out for a wreck involving Willy T Ribbs, Greg Biffle, and Helio Castroneves. Ribbs spins out and in trying to get slowed down, Biffle and Castroneves make contact.

Biffle has significant damage to his car and will not be able to finish the second heat but if hopeful that he will be ready for the feature race.

Michael Waltrip brings the field down for the green flag restart with less than two minutes left on the clock. Waltrip holds on to the lead with Paul Tracy in second; Doug Coby, Tony Stwart and Bill Elliott round out the top five.

Greg Biffle is moving to a backup car for the feature race after receiving crash damage in heat number two.

Bill Elliott is stopped on the track and has to get a push from the tow truck to get to pit road Reports are that the issue is a fuel pump. If the crew cannot get the car repaired quickly, they will move to a backup car in order to get Elliott back in the race.

Bill Elliott is moving once again and will rejoin the field.

After winning heat number two, Doug Coby will bring the field down for the green flag start of the 100 lap feature event with Michael Waltrip alongside. Doug Coby takes the lead with Tony Stewart in second.

Driving a backup car, Greg Biffle is moving through the field.

The caution flag comes out on lap four after some contact between Ernie Francis Jr and Michael Waltrip. Waltrip spins out. Waltrip is on pit road for repairs.

The drivers do not lose a lap while their cars are being repaired on pit road.

The drivers do not have a spotter, they must depend solely on their rear view mirrors.

Home town hero Doug Coby is thrilling the home town crowd with a dominating lead on the field of superstars; Greg Biffle, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, and Helio Castroneves round out the top five.

With just 15 laps to go, Doug Coby has dominated the race. He ran his first laps in Stafford over 20 years ago and has run 10,000 laps since that time. He is a six time modified champion.

There are nine cars on the lead lap – Paul Tracy, Michael Waltrip, and Bill Elliott are laps down.

The caution flag comes out with six laps to go for Marco Andretti’s smoking car. His right front tire is locked up.
