Loose lug nuts continue to plague NASCAR teams.

After the races in the Cup and the Camping World Truck Series this past weekend at Richmond Raceway, thee teams were penalized for lug nut violations  – two in the Cup Series and one in the Camping World Truck Series.

In the post race inspection process at the conclusion of the Toyota Owners 400, the Hendrick Motorsports number 24 car driven by William Byron with Rudy Fugle as crew chief and the number 51 Petty Ware Racing car driven by Cody Ware with Mike Hillman as crew chief were found the have one lug nut improperly secured.  The crew chiefs were fined $10,000 each.

In the Camping World Truck Series, the race winning truck from Kyle Busch Motorsports number four truck driven by John Hunter Nemechek was also found to have an improperly secured lug nut.  Crew chief Eric Phillips was fined $2,500 for the infraction.  The infraction does not affect Nemechek’s race win or points standings.
