On October 25, Dick Clark Productions announced the nominees for the 2020 American Music Awards. Canadian Hip-Hop artist The Weeknd and American rapper Roddy Ricch lead the list with eight nominations each including Artist of the Year where they will go up against Canadian Justin Bieber and Americans Post Malone and Taylor Swift.
Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Doja Cat, DaBaby, Dan + Shay, and Bad Bunny have also garnered multiple nominations.
To reflect the ever changing music scene, this year the AMA’s have included new categories for rap, hip-hop, and Latin music.
In the November 22 ceremony, the American Music Awards will combine pre-recorded segments and live performances for the awards gala in response to the ongoing issues with the Covid-19 pandemic.
A fan voted awards gala, Taylor Swift leads the list of all time awards with 29 including a category leading five Artist of the Year awards.
