Former NASCAR driver and current owner of JR Motorsports Dale Earnhardt Jr barely missed winning another Talladega race but this time as an owner when his number one car driven by Michael Annett finished the race in second place behind Justin Haley.

But after NASCAR found an infraction during the post-race inspection process, the car was disqualified and listed in the last place.  The disqualification also sent Annett from the ninth place position in the playoff standings to the 12th place position – last place.  He is now 38 points below the cutoff line.

During inspection after the Ag-Pro 300 on October 3, Annett’s car failed to meet the minimum height requirements in the car.

This weekend the NASCAR circuit travels to Charlotte Motor Speedway to race on the Roval; it is an elimination race for the Xfinity and Cup Series drivers.

While there were some on track penalties during the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday for going below the double yellow line – forbidden at Talladega and Daytona – there were no additional penalties for the drivers.
