In the ever changing saga known as the music business, artists continue to adjust and adapt as they work to bring new music to the fans.

And even during a global pandemic that shut much of the world down, musicians have continued to create and record; some have even used the pandemic and shutdown as inspiration for new songs.

Video may have killed the radio star, but the vinyl album is alive and thriving.

Here is just some of the tunes  that are available now…or on the horizon.

Television composer Brad Chiet has created Fleah for a new album of “electronic grooves”.  Looking for new musical viewpoint, Chiet created Fleah and recorded “Fuel” – an album to help us “push forward” in this new era.

The Old 97’s return with “Twelfth”; an album that was not only recorded during the pandemic, but also while dodging a tornado!  “A resounding ode to endurance and resilience from a veteran group”, the band is also offering up the album in a limited edition vinyl edition.

South African “The Voice” Vusi Mahlasela has released a live performance album of traditional township songs titled “Shebeen Queen”.  Dedicated to his grandmother Ida, Mahlasela says that she is the the “Shebeen Queen”; adding, “she was and still is my greatest hero.”

The Cordovas have brought together wide eyed abandon, wild poetry, country music, folk, and groove heavy rock and roll for their new album “Destiny Hotel”.  Set for a fall release on October 18, The Cordovas are offering fans the chance to pre-order a limited edition gold vinyl copy of the album.

Leo Kottke and Mike Gordon pair up for their first collaboration in 15 years with “Noon”.  Noting that the album is more intimate than previous releases, Kottke said, “we wanted to get that late-night feel.”  The album features eleven new songs and will be available for digital download on August 28.  Physical copies, including a red and gold vinyl version, will be available on November 18.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is re-releasing their 2016 album “Nonagon Infinity”; but this time it will be on a tri-colour red, black, and yellow vinyl.  The album comes in a gatefold jacket and custom inner sleeve.  The package also includes a digital download card.

The band is also re-releasing their third album “Sketches of Brunswick East” – an album with the Mild High Club.  But this time the album will be on yellow vinyl with some blue spatter.

Preparing for the release of his new album “Western Swing & Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs”, Saskatchewan Country music star Colter Wall has released the single “High & Mighty”.  The album is set for an August 28 release.  Fans of the television series “Deadwood” and “Yellowstone” are familiar with Wall’s music.

There was a time when women, like children, were to be seen and not heard.  Girls were sent away to “Finishing School” to learn the proper way to act.

Classically trained multi instrumentalist Teri Bracken under the guise of Bronte Fall is looking to have the voices of all women heard with her six song EP “Finishing School”.

In an era when artists take months to craft a single song, five of the six songs on the album were recorded in just four days.
