Unlike most jobs, musicians do not always have access to health insurance and other safety nets open to workers. But thanks to the Recording Academy and MusiCares, services and funding are available in times of need.
MusiCares depends on donations, usually in the form of a charitable auction, to raise funds to aid musicians in their time of need.
Each year as a part of the annual Grammy Awards celebration, the Recording Academy salutes the MusiCares Person of the Year with a benefit concert and celebrity auction.
At various times during the year, The Academy also holds a celebrity auction allowing fans the opportunity to obtain memorabilia or meet some of their favorite artists. With restrictions over travel and crowds still in place, the meet and greets for this year will be of the virtual variety, but it is still a once in a lifetime experience for a one on one event.
Now through August 27, fans can bid on some exclusive experiences with a few of the biggest names in music including Lee Ann Womack, Megadeath’s David Ellefson, Hunter Hays, Halestorm, Adam Blackstone, Jimmy Douglas, Larry Klein, Steve Lillywhite, Giles Martin, and Tony Visconti.
Producer Tim Palmer has worked with many artists over the years and promises lots of stories from over the years in his Zoom meeting with the auction winner.
Award winning bass player David Ellefson of Megadeath is offering a virtual bass lesson.
Award winning performer Lee Ann Womack is offering a meet up and top premium tickets for a future concert.
Country music star Hunter Hayes is not only offering a Zoom meet and greet; but also some Hunter Hayes merchandise.
While not a musician, CEO and Co-Founder La Colombe Coffee Todd Carmichael is offering a Zoom session in the “Art of Coffee”.
Producer Larry Klein, mastering engineer Chris Athens, Giles Martin, and producer Jimmy Douglas are each offering a one hour session on Zoom.
Producer Mike Clink, producer Steve Lillywhite, and Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of Halestorm are each offering Zoom sessions.
