On July 28, the nominees for the 2020 Prime Time Emmy Awards were announced.  Once again the HBO network has created a show to top the list of nominees.  “Watchman” scored a whopping 26 nominations but falls short of the record sedt by “Roots” in 1977 with 37.

A documentary about the lunar landing 50 years ago has earned a nomination for cinematorgraphy.

The Canadian comedy “Schitt’s Creek” has earned 15 nominations in its sixth and final year on Netflix; second only to Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with 20.  “Ozark”, “Succession”, “Madelorian”, “Saturday Night Live”, and “The Crown” also garnered double digit nominations.

Fred Willard and Lynn Shelton have earned posthumous nominations.

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will serve as host for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards, set to be held on September 20.
