The Covid-19 pandemic has shut down all events and festivals for this year; but the organizers of Lollapalooza have found a way to continue the annual event…Virtual Lola2020.

Award winning entertainer LL Cool J and Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction and Lollapalooza founder will host the four night free event that begins July 30 and will run through August 2.  Fans can see all the music and special performances beginning at 6pm eastern time via the Lollapalooza YouTube channel –

The festival will feature fan favourite performances from previous years, new performances, and special conversations for a total of over 150 performances.

Previous Lollapalooza performances include LCD Soundsystem, Metallica, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, Run The Jewels, Lorde, Alabama Shakes, Tove Lo, Paul McCartney, Chance The Rapper, OutKast, and Arcade Fire.

The new performances include Alison Wonderland in a live set, Carnage, H.E.R., Kali Uchis, Kaskade, Louis the Child, NGHTMRE, Pink Sweat$, SAYMYNAME, Tank and the Bangas, The Neighbourhood, Vic Mensa, Yungblud, and ZHU.

Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot will be appearing throughout the weekend to host conversations with the hosts including Lars Ulrich, Chuck D. Matt Pinfield, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.  Other special events include a reunion of Porno for Pyros – their first in 24 years, the King Heaven Orchestra with Taylor Hawkins, and a David Bowie tribute.

The City of Chicago will be featured with performances by local artists including Jamila Woods, KAINA, Heavy Steppers with Jamal Smallz, Peter CottonTale, Rebirth Poetry Ensemble, Emon Fowler, Linda Sol, and The Era Footwork Crew.

When Lollapalooza was cancelled, it affected much more than the music; local businesses, artists, and photographers were also affected.  Fans can help support local Chicago with the Paypal Loves Chicago hub where they can order food, purchase art, or just make a donation.

The Toyota Music Den returns for a showcase of emerging artists DaniLeigh, mxmtoon, Masego and Princess Nokia; and sponsor a Mayor of  Lolla sweepstakes where the winner can earn a platinum prize package to Lolla21.
