Actress Kelly Preston died July 12, 2020 in Houston, Texas just three months shy of her 58th birthday as a result of breast cancer.  Preston, who is the wife of award winning actor John Travolta, had been battling the disease for the past two years.

Along with appearing opposite her future husband John Travolta, Preston has shared some screen time with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DiVito, Kevin Costner, Roy Scheider, Ann-Margret, Kevin Spacey,Quentin Tarantino, George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Kevin Bacon, Meg Ryan, Matthew Broderick, Debra Winger, Zooey Deschanel, Hank Azaria, Mike Myers, Rod Steiger, Julie Harris, and Tom Cruise.  She also appeared in the video for the Maroon 5 hit song “She Will Be Loved”.

Preston made her television acting debut in 1980 in an episode of “Hawaii Five-O”.  From there she went on to appear in over 70 film and television productions including “Quincy M.E.”, “CHiPs”, “For Love and Honor”, “Blue Thunder”, “Twins”, “Tales from the Crypt”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Addicted to Love”, “For Love of the Game”, “Battlefield Earth”, “The Cat in the Hat”, “Fat Actress”, “Medium”, “CSI: Cyber”, and her final role in 2018 in ”Gotti”.  “Off the Rails” is currently in post production.  As herself, Preston has appeared in dozens of, documentaries, award shows, talk shows, and variety shows.

She was born Kelly Kamalelehua Smith on October 13, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She also grew up in Iraq and Australia.  Back in Hawaii as a teen, she began appearing in acting in commercials and graduated from Punahou High School – the same school as President Barack Obama.

Predeceased by her son Jett, Preston is survived byer her second husband of 28 years, John Travolta and children Ella Bleu and Benjamin.
