It has been a long wait for western New York and the arrival of the tourist season.  On June 26 for what will be the latest start of the season in its 130 plus year history, the Maid of the Mist will launch its 135th season of giving visitors a close look…and feel…of Niagara Falls.

In the wake of the Covid-19 global pandemic, visitors on the world famous boat ride will don more than the signature plastic poncho; face masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizers will also be a part of the ride.

The 2020 season will also bring something very special to the Maid of the Mist boat ride…two band new boats that feature emission free electric boats.

The Maid of the Mist has implemented a number of safety protocols including a maximum of 50 percent capacity, social distancing markers, hand sanitizing stations, and mandatory face coverings in order to board the ship.

The Maid of the Mist is encouraging visitors to purchase tickets online at https://store.maidofthemist.com/.  Only one party at a time may be at the ticket window at a time.

All ticket booth countertops and keypads, hand rails, and any other point touched by visitors will be sanitized between uses and Maid of the Mist elevators and the Observation Deck are limited to 50 percent capacity.

Maid of the Mist workers will be provided with personal protection equipment and must undergo a mandatory health screening each day prior to their shift.

The Maid of the Mist has cut operating hours 10am to 4pm each day with boats launching every 30 minutes.  Ticket prices for the 2020 season are $22.25 for adults, $13,00 for children age six to 12, and free to children under five who are accompanied by an adult.

The Whirlpool Jet Boat has announced that they will launch their tours on July 1 with enhanced safety protocols.

Boats will be limited to 50 percent capacity with sanitized helmets, face shields, and masks provided for visitors.  Boats will be sanitized prior to each tour.  Hand sanitizing stations will be available to all passengers.

Ticket prices are $62.95 for adults and $39.95 for children 12 and under.  Residents of Ontario and New York can get a 20 percent discount on ticket purchases when bought online at https://www.whirlpooljet.com/.
