While making pace laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway on June 13, Xfinity Series driver Chase Briscoe’s Stewart-Haas Racing number 98 car dropped some ballast on the track.
Briscoe spent six laps on pit road getting the car repaired and ended up finishing the race on the lead lap in seventh place.
As a result of the infraction, NASCAR has issued a penalty on the SHR car in the form of suspensions. Crew Chief Richard Boswell, car chief Nick Hutchins, and engineer DJ Vanderley have all been suspended for the next four Xfinity Series races including the second race at Homestead-Miami on June 14.
With car owner Tony Stewart’s former crew chief Greg Zippadelli on the pit box, Chase Briscoe took the number 98 car to victory circle after a double overtime finish in the Contender Boats 250 to give Zippy his first Xfinity Series win.
