Even though large crowds are still prohibited due to the Covid-19 virus, as they say, “the show must go on.”

On May 19 the Broadway Alliance Awards were revealed via live stream by actors Charles Busch and Julie Halston.

The Broadway Alliance Awards celebrate the best in Off Broadway productions and performances.

A real celebration is being planned for later this year.

Along with the awards in seven categories that reward the productions, Legends of Broadway awards were also presented to Gretchen Cryer, Woodie King, Ju, Eric Krebs, and Barbara Zinn Krieger.

Mark Blum, Wynn Handman, and Julia Miles were inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame posthumously.

The Drama Bookshop was presented with the Friend of Off Broadway Award for its dedication to Off Broadway.

Best New Play: “Life Sucks”
Best Revival of a Play: “The Woman in Black”
Best New Musical: “A Strange Loop”
Best Revival of a Musical: “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”
Best Unique Theatrical Experience: “Dana H.”
Best Solo Performance: Bill Posley for his role in “The Day I Became Black”
Best Family Show: “She Persisted, The Musical”
