Lock down orders and the Covid-19 virus has changed the way people have to mourn and mark the death of friends, family, and loved musicians.

On April 7, folk musician John Prine died as a result of the Covid-19 virus.  Due to the ban on crowd gatherings, fans were unable to mark the death with any memorial services.  As a result, Prine’s Oh Boy Records went “old school” with their wake and broadcast the service on the radio.

Oh Boy is giving fans another chance to hear the wake with a rebroadcast of the Radio Wake on the Nashville Public Radio station 90,3 WPLN on April 29 at 7pm local time.  The service will feature stories about Prine that include some of his favourite lyrics and stories from the road.

In the days following Prine’s death, sales of his music skyrocketed.
