Prior to the notification by the government that the corona virus had hit U.S. shores, hundreds of musicians entertained millions of fans.

One of those musicians was Hall of Fame artist John Prine. Earlier this month Prine’s wife Fiona stated that she had tested positive for the corona virus. Prine and his wife were quarantined and isolated after the diagnosis.

Prine was hospitalized on March 26 with the Covid-19 virus. Via a message by family members on Prine’s Twitter page, Prine’s condition deteriorated over the weekend and Prine was placed on a ventilator.

Fiona, who has since recovered from the virus, released an update on her husband saying that he is in stable condition.

The 73 year old Prine is a two time cancer survivor; the last one was lung cancer in 2013 which resulted in Prine having part of a lung removed.

Mixing folk and country music, John Prine has been creating music for 50 years. The two time Grammy Award winner is a member of the Nashville Songwriters and Songwriters Halls of Fame, and is a PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient. He has had his music recorded by numerous artists including Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, and the Zac Brown Band.
