On March 8, Joey Logano took his number 22 Penske Racing car to victory lane at the FanShield 500 at Phoenix Raceway for his second win of the season.
During the post race inspection process, Logano’s car was found to have one of its lug nuts improperly secured.
As a result of the infraction, number 22 crew chief Paul Wolfe was fined $10,000. There were no other issues with the car and Logano will keep his win with no further penalties.
Last season NASCAR implemented a rule change that stated, any race winner who is charged with a car infraction during the post race inspection will have their win vacated and placed in the last place position.
