While Americans prepare for the annual Grammy Awards, the UK is readying for the Brit Awards.
The London rapper Dave and Scottish star Lewis Capaldi lead the list of nominees with four each and oddly enough they are up for an award in the same categories. The Brit Awards present only eight awards.
Stormzy, Mabel, Harry Styles, and Michael Kiwanuka also garnered multiple nominations.
What in the past was known as the Critics’ Choice award has been renamed to the Rising Star Award. This year that award goes to Celeste; an American born British performer.
Non British artists Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Burna Boy, Dermot Kennedy, and Tyler the Creator have all been nominated in the International categories to earn their first Brit Award nominations. Bring Me the Horizon, Aitch, AJ Tracey, D-Block Europe, and Freya Ridings are also getting their first Brit Award nominations.
Winners of the 2020 Brit Awards will be revealed on February 18 at the O2 Arena in London with Jack Whitehall as the host for the evening.
