It’s the semi finals on “Dancing with the Stars” and only five couples remain.

This week the couples will have to perform two dances – a new dance and the redemption round returns where the judges will pit the dance and the couples will have the chance to improve on their scores form earlier in the season but to a new song.

First up is the redemption round.

Lauren and Gleb get some pointer from Len on how to improve on their Paso Doble to Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Stronger”. A smiling Len said that the dance had a lovely mix of passion and aggression; adding that it was a much improved routine. Bruno said that the dance was stronger and the shapes were better; adding that Lauren did a great job. Carrie Ann said that Lauren has come so far and commands the dance floor now. Lauren and Gleb scored 27 points for their dance.

Kel and Witney got a visit from Bruno to help with their Tango to “Get Ready”. Bruno called Kel the perfect student and gave a pure real proper Tango. Carrie Ann said that Kel has become so refined; adding that he has come the furthest. Len liked the intensity; adding that Kel came out with enthusiasm and attacked the dance. Kel and Witney scored 27 points for their dance.

Ally and Sasha got a visit from Len for a little help on their Viennese Waltz to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”. Len called it a lovely dance with much better technique. Bruno said that Ally had wonderful flow; adding that it was a joy to watch. Carrie Ann noted that Ally is an emotional dancer; adding that it is a gift. Ally and Sasha scored 29 points for their dance.

Hannah and Alan get a visit from Carrie Ann for a little help with their Rumba. Carrie Ann noted that Hannah improved a lot and had better hip action. Len noted that the hips are the ryhythm in the Rumba. Bruno said that whatever Carrie Ann did, it worked. Hannah and Alan scored 27 points for their dance.

Closing out round one, James and Emma got a visit from Len for a little help with their Cha Cha. James said that he wanted to have Len help them out. Len would have liked to see more Cha Cha moves; adding that there was too much messing about in the dance. Bruno called it a Disco Cha Cha extravaganza; adding that James’ timing was off tonight. Carrie Ann called the dance very entertaining; adding that his posture was broken tonight. Carrrie Ann noted that this is the tightest semi finals they have ever had. James and Emma scored 24 points for their dance.

Lauren and Gleb return for a Viennese Waltz to “Humble and Kind”; a dance she dedicated to her parents. Len called the dance smooth, elegant, and graceful; adding it was a lovely dance. Bruno called the dance sophisticated; adding that the chemistry was wonderful. Carrie Ann noted that the duo dance as one. Lauren and Gleb score 27 points for their dance for a total score of 54 points.

Kel and Witney return for a Contemporary dance to the Whitney Houston hit “I Will Always Love You”; a song that was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton. Kel dedicated the dance to anyone who has lost someone to gun violence. After a standing ovation, Bruno called the performance pure art, sincere, and honest. Bruno added that whatever happens, Kel is a winner in his eye. An emotional Carrie Ann called the dance pure and riveting. Len simply stood and clapped his hands. Erin called the dance amazing. Kell and Witney scored 30 points for their dance for a total of 57 points.

Ally and Sasha danced a Charleston to “Sing Sing Sing”. Carrie Ann said that Ally proved she deserves to be in the finals; adding that dance was fun. Len called it a joyful dance. Bruno called the dance a tonic for the spirit; adding that Sasha threw everything in there to make it look like an old Hollywood musical dance. Ally and Sasha scored 30 points for their dance for a total of 59 points.

James revealed that on Saturday, his wife lost the baby when she had a miscarriage. He didn’t expect to dance but his wife insisted. He and Emma dance a Foxtrot to “Take Me to Church” by Hozier. Len noted that for James to come out and dance with such emotion touched his heart. Bruno noted that James put so much heart in the dance. Carrie Ann noted that she didn’t know how James got through the dance; adding that his posture was great. James’ young daughter was in the audience and James brought her back stage. James and Emma scored 27 points for their dance with a total of 51 points.

In the final dance of the night Hannah and Alan dance a Contemporary dance. Bruno said that for a first time Contemporary dancer, Hannah did really well. Carrie Ann said that Hannah moved beautifully and really trusted Alan on the lifts. Len thought that the emotion came out and it was a true couple dance. Hannah and Alan scored 27 points for their dance for a total of 54 points.

And the final results before the finale and a winner is crowned…

The first couple in the finals are Kel and Witney.

Also going to the finals are Hannah and Alan.

The third couple in the finals are Lauren and Gleb.

James and Emma and Ally and Sasha are in the bottom two.

Carrie Ann chose to save Ally and Sasha.

Bruno chose to save Ally and Sasha.

Len agreed with his fellow judges and chose Ally and Sasha.

An emotional Ally asked is she could give it to James.
