As the 2019 NASCAR racing season nears an end, more teams and drivers are settling in with contracts for the coming season.
Joe Gibbs Racing has found a full time driver for their number 18 Xfinity Series car in Riley Herbst. Herbst was on of six drivers to sit behind the wheel of the number 18 car this season. He will be joining Harrison Burton and Brandon Jones as the Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity drivers next season.
Hattori Racing Enterprises has announced that Austin Hill has signed an extension to drive the number 16 Gander Outdoors Series truck next season. The 2019 season was Hill’s first season with HRE.
After losing his full time ride in the Richard Childress Racing number eight car earlier this season, Daniel Hemric will return to a number eight car, but this time it will be the Xfinity Series JR Motorsports numnber eight. Hemric is set to driver 21 of the 33 Xfinity Series races next season with Jeb Burton driving the eleven races and car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr driving in one race. Which one of the races will have Junior behind the wheel has yet to be announced.
A few weeks ago Matt Tifft had a medical incident at the track and is out for at least the remainder of the season. On November 13 it was revealed that Tifft and car owner Front Row Motorsports have agreed to part ways so that Tifft can focus on his health.
Speaking on his decision Tifft said, “I’ve made the decision to focus on my health and there is no rush or timetable to get back behind the wheel. Because of that, I can’t commit to racing full-time in 2020. I can’t say when I’ll be ready to race again, but I believe I will come back. I love this sport, the people, and I would like to be a part of it next year in some capacity.”
