Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart has not been behind the wheel of a stock car since his retirement in 2016. But on October 31 it will be no trick when “Smoke” fans get the treat of seeing him make a return to stock car racing at Circuit of America.

While Stewart will be behind the wheel of his old car – the number 14 Haas Automation Ford Mustang, he will not be in the race itself; but instead, he will be making a demonstration run around the 3.426 mile road course with Formula One drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen as passengers.

Speaking on his venture Stewart said, “it’s kind of hard to believe that it’s been three years since I last drove a stock car, but seeing some of these road-course races – especially the Roval at Charlotte – have piqued my interest a bit, so this is a good way to sort of satisfy that hunger.

While he retired from driving stock cars, Tony Stewart continues to race Sprint cars where he has won 10 races this year.c Stewart runs nearly 100 Sprint car races a year.

Even with 20 plus years of driving experience, Stewart has never driven at Circuit of the Americas, saying that even after all those years there is still something new to experience.

Stewart will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on January 31 as a part of the 2020 class of new members.
