While Kleinhans Music Hall included the BPO, it was far from the typical Classical music performance when the tribute band Strictly Hip took the stage to perform the music of the iconic Canadian trio The Tragically Hip.

The concert hall was turned into a true rock and roll venue complete with the fashionably late – complete with ringing phone – crowd, whistles, and singing along to the songs.

Featuring some beautiful orchestrations by the BPO, the performance included love songs, dance songs, tragic tales and story songs. During their 33 year career, the Tragically Hip released over a dozen albums, which offered Strictly Hip a ver large catalog of music to choose from; but band members noted that in deciding the set list for the show there were some songs that had to be done.

But at the end of the show, the crowd was still not satisfied and demanded more in the form of an encore…which was provided.

The house of was packed with fans and it is easy to see why Strictly Hip is such a popular band and draws a crowd.
