The west coast swing is over and NASCAR has moved back east for some short track racing at the half mile paperclip known as Martinsville.

Unlike last week in Fontana, the drivers wasted no time in getting out on the track to get the tires warmed up and hopefully make a clean qualifying lap.

Under the new qualifying pit speeds rule, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Daniel Suarez were both caught speeding on pit road. For Stenhouse his time was disallowed and he had to make another run; but for Suarez, he had to come back around and start over.

After three rounds of qualifying, with a time of 19.35 seconds Joey Logano puts his number 22 car on the pole with Aric Almirola starting alongside on the front row.
