Award winning acting veteran Morgan Sheppard died January 6 in Los Angeles at the age of 86. Son Mark reported that Sheppard’s wife was by his side at the time of his death.

The British born actor was an alumni of RADA and made four appearances in the “Star Trek” franchise; appearing in two movies, an episode of The Next Generation, and an episode of Voyager.

Prior to his coming to the screen, Sheppard was a stage actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company for 12 years after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where he performed in over 100 plays and traveled the world.

His acting career spanned some sixty years and included the Royal stage, Broadway, film, and television which included a number o productions working alongside his son Mark even playing different stages of the same person in an episode of “Dr. Who” and “NCIS”.

Sheppard made his television acting debut in 1961 on an episode of the series “Theatre Night”. From there he went on to appear in nearly 200 productions including “New Scotland Yard”, “Dial M for Murder”, “Anthony and Cleopatra” – while with the Royal Shakespeare Academy, “The New Avengers”, “A Family Affair”, “Shogun”, the 1982 production of “The Nutcracker”, “Ma Headroom”, “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark”, “MacGyver”, “Quantum Leap”, “Needful Things”, “Gettysburg”, “Seaquest 2032”, “Good King Wenceslas”, “Murder, She Wrote”, “Babylon 5”, “Biker Mice from Mars”, the animated series “Gargoyles”, “JAG”, the daytime drama “Days of Our Lives”, “Criminal Minds”, “NCIS”, “Doctor Who”, “The Librarians” and his final role in 2017 in the short “Designated Caretaker Redux”.

On Broadway, he appeared in the revival of the play “Sherlock Holmes” and “The Persecution and Assassination of Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade”.

Sheppard has earned the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award an the Drama-Logue Critics Award.

Along with his acting in hundreds of productions, Sheppard has also directed a number of productions and has taught acting in Hollywood.

He was born William Morgan Sheppard on August 24, 1932 in London, England but grew up in Dublin. He later served with the Norwegian Merchant Navy before entering RADA.

Sheppard is survived by his wife, son Mark, and two grandchildren.
