Over the past couple of racing seasons, FOX Sports has offered current Monster Energy Cup Series drivers the opportunity to be a race analyst during some of the Xfinity Series races and has even sponsored two races where the entire broadcast team was comprised of Monster Cup drivers.

One of the drivers that participated in the programs was Jamie McMurray.

After being released as a driver of the number one car, car owner Chip Ganassi was hoping that McMurray would take on a managerial role with the team. On December 12, it was announced that Jamie McMurray would be following in the footsteps of Jeff Gordon, Larry McReynolds, Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip, Reagan Smith, and Jamie Little when he becomes a part of the broadcast team next season.

McMurray is joining the pre-race program “NASCAR RaceDay” and the week day show “NASCAR Race Hub” as an analyst.

Speaking on his decision McMurray said, “as my driving career got closer to the end, I thought about doing TV but wasn’t sure until I did a couple of NASCAR Race Hub shows at the end of this year. I really enjoyed it more than I expected. It’s a whole new world, but that’s what I am most excited about – the new challenge and discomfort that comes with doing something completely out of my element.”
