On November 9 the Hard Rock Café in Niagara Falls, New York offered something a little different for their Friday night entertainment when Big Jim and the Twins presented not just the music of the ‘90’s but a specific genre of that music.

The ‘90’s saw the rise of a variety of musical styles including Grunge music – a mix of Heavy Metal and Punk – and it is this particular style that the band performed.

Calling the performance a Grunge / Alternative tribute, lead singer and drummer Ryan (Big Jim) offered a bit of history for some of the songs along the way.

Over the course of the night, the band featured music from Nirvana, the Stone Temple Pilots, the Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Audioslave, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Alice in Chains, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Gavin deGraw – hey, because they like the song.

There was no “November Rain” to match the weather outside, but the set list did include “Are You Going My Way”, “Backwater”, “Vasoline”, “Times Like These”, “Californication”, “1979”, “I Don’t Wanna Be”, “Brain Stew”, “Like a Stone”, “Aerials”, “No One Knows”, “Plush”, “Say it Ain’t So”, “Check My Brain”, “Hero”, “Machinehead”, “Mysterious”, “Black Days”, “Give it Away”, and “High and Dry”.

As winter begins to settle over western New York, Ryan, Nick, and Joe as Big Jim and the Twins offered a musical respite from the November chills outside.
