The Monster Energy Cup Series caps off a triple header weekend with some Saturday night racing in Bristol with the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.

Billed the “Fastest Half Mile in the World” and Thunder Valley, the drivers will make 500 laps around the high banks in 15 seconds.

Forty-one teams brought cars to the track; as a result, one driver will not qualify for the race.

After three rounds of qualifying Kyle Larson wins the pole and will bring the field to the green. The top six positions are separated by less than a tenth of a second.

Stages one and two of the race are 125 laps each with stage two lasting 250 laps for a total of 500 laps around the half mile track.

After severe rains came through the area on Friday night, NASCAR has called for a competition caution on lap 60. Drivers may come down pit road for service but will not be allowed to put fuel in the car until the competition caution.

Kyle Larson brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and gets out in front of the field for the lead.

The first caution flag of the race comes out on lap two after a big pile up. Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney make contact and the 13 car pile up ensues. Kyle Busch, Bubba Wallace, Jesse Little, JJ Yeley, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Michael McDowell, Chris Buescher, AJ Allmendinger, Martin Truex Jr, Timmy Hill, Kasey Kahne, and Daniel Suarez were all involved in the crash.

Kyle Larson brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 14 but after Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick make contact, Kevin Harvick passes Kyle Larson for the lead.

Lap 18 Ryan Blaney is in the lead with Kyle Larson in second and Chase Elliott in third.

Michael McDowell failed to meet the caution clock and is out of the race.

Paul Menard is having issues with his car.

Paul Menard has a flat tire and a suspension issue after hitting the wall hard and is trying to get down the track to get to pit road.

Lap 45, Ryan Blaney has a lead of over a second on Kyle Larson with Chase Elliott, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, and Kevin Harvick rounding out the top five. There are 25 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 49, Ryan Blaney has pulled out to a lead of over a second and a half on Kyle Larson with Ricky Stenhouse Jr in third; Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick round out the top five.

Lap 53, Kyle Larson has closed the gap on leader Ryan Blaney to under a second.

Lap 57 Ryan Blaney continues to lead the race with Kyle Larson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Chase Elliott, and Kevin Harvick rounding out the top five.

The competition caution comes out on lap 60 the drivers may now field their cars along with any service or adjustments needed.

Lap 98, Kevin Harvick has caught up to leader Ryan Blaney.

Lap 106, Ryan Blaney has a half second lead on Kevin Harvick; Clint Bowyer, Chase Elliott, and Aric Almirola round out the top five.

Lap 112, Kevin Harvick challenges Ryan Blaney for the lead as they encounter slower traffic. So far Blaney has held him off.

With only nine laps remaining in stage one, there are 21 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 121 Ricky Stenhouse Jr makes an unscheduled trip down pit road with a flat tire.

NBC Sports broadcasters report that there is rain on the radar and heading for the area.

Aric Almirola’s car continues to smoke and is getting worse. Reports are that NASCAR may black flag the car.

Lap 340, Aric Almirola’s car has been black flagged and must come down pit road to assess the issue. When the hood was opened, smoke billowed out.

Lap 247, Chase Elliott is in the lead with Clint Bowyer in second and Kurt Busch in third.

Lap 390, Martin Truex Jr gets alongside of Clint Bowyer but is unable to complete the pass.

Lap 396 the top five are Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Kurt Busch.

Lap 399, leader Clint Bowyer, and Martin Truex Jr – neither of whom have won race at Bristol – continue their battle for the lead.

Lap 403, after getting into a big crash on lap number two, Kyle Busch is not only back on the lead lap, but has moved up into the top five in fourth place.

Lap 409, Clint Bowyer continues to battle Martin Truex Jr for the lead.

Lap 412, Clint Bowyer has pulled out to a lead of half a second on Martin Truex Jr.

Lap 420, Clint Bowyer has a half second lead on Martin Truex Jr.

Only 76 laps remaining in the race and the drivers continue to challenge and battle their fellow drivers for position.

Drivers are getting aggressive on the track as they battle for position.

Only 38 laps remaining in the race, Clint Bowyer continues to lead the race with Kurt Busch a half a second behind.

The caution flag comes out on lap 469 when Brad Keselowski gets turned around. Keselowski reports that he has a flat tire.

There are 15 cars on the lead lap.

Taking only two tires, Austin Dillon wins the race off of pit road. Denny Hamlin also took only two tires but there are also drivers who stayed out on the track.

Clint Bowyer and Kurt Busch stayed out on the track and will bring the field to the green flag.
