Nancy Barbato Sinatra – the childhood sweetheart and ex-wife of Frank Sinatra – died July 13 at the age of 101.

With a daughter also named Nancy, Barbato Sinatra often went by the name Nancy Sinatra Sr.

Nancy Sr married Frank at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church February 4, 1939 in Jersey City, New Jersey; before Frank became a singing sensation and actor. The Sinatra family relocated to Los Angeles in the forties where Frank added acting to his list of skills.

Nancy and Frank were divorced in 1951 after Frank had an affair with Ava Gardner. Nancy and Frank’s relationship remained amicable over the years.

After the divorce, Nancy withdrew from the limelight and never remarried.

Nancy Sr appeared in the documentaries “Sinatra: All or Nothing at All” and “Nancy & Lee in Las Vegas”; along with an appearance on the daytime talk show “Dinah’s Place” with Dinah Shore.

She was born Nancy Rose Barbato on March 25, 1917 in Jersey City, New Jersey the daughter of a plaster contractor.

Predeceased by son Frank Jr, Nancy is survived by daughter Nancy and Tina, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
