When the FireKeepers Casino 400 finally got underway on June 10, three of Joe Gibbs Racing’s drivers found themselves starting the race from the back of the field after failing pre-race inspection with an issue involving the front spittler.

The Monster Energy Cup Series teams of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Erik Jones were all charged with having splitters that did not measure up to the rules; as a result of the infractions, the drivers started the race from the back of the field and their crew chiefs were fined $25,000 and the car chiefs have been suspended for one race.

Mike Wheeler is the crew chief and Brandon Griffeth is the car chief for Denny Hamlin.

Adam Stevens is the crew chief and Nate Bellows is the car chief for Kyle Busch.

Chris Gayle is the crew chief and Jason Overstreet is the car chief for Erik Jones.
