What are your thoughts about cryptocurrency?

Admittedly, I am not well versed on this crypto stuff; but to me it feels fake; more like a money grab scam.
I recently saw a headline where people “invested” millions of dollars (real money) into a big crypto deal and to coin a phrase, “lost their shirts”!
But, SOMEONE made millions off the deal!!!
Just like a get rich quick scheme!
If someone gives me a gift card, I know the money is there and available for me to use; but with crypto, it doesn’t feel real…is the “money” there or is it just fantasy and imagination?
It all feels like a board rich people’s game.
I could be totally wrong about the whole deal but at the moment that is how I feel and view the crypto thing.
