After Ella Langley’s record setting run as the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Choosin’ Texas”; there is a new leader this week…and it is no surprise!
With the release of her new single “Patient Zero”, Taylor Swift debuts in the number one spot. Langley’s song drops to number two.
In fact, Swift occupies three of the top five spots of the Hot 100 with the release of her “Encore” tracks from her “Life of a Showgirl” album.
“Patient Zero” is Swift’s 16th number one song; putting her third overall behind Mariah Carey with 19 and The Beatles with 20.
Of Swift’s 16 number one hit songs; 10 of them have debuted in the number one spot; which ties her with Drake for the most.
Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” album has made a return to the number one spot in the Billboard Album 200 chart too. “Life of a Showgirl” has now spent 13 weeks in the number one spot. For accounting purposes, Billboard counts all forms of the “Life as a Showgirl” album as a single release. The original release spent 12 weeks at number one; now the “Encore” holds the number one for a total of 13 so far.
