“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy is looking to reboot his award-winning highly successful television series “Glee”.
Murphy has said, “I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members.”
Murphy says that he has completed a script; adding that the original cast members are “enthusiastic about the idea”.
Several of the show’s original cast members have gone on to star on Broadway.
After launching in 2009 and ran through 2015, songs from the hit series landed on the Billboard Hot 100 207 times; only Drake, Future, and Taylor Swift have more.
Noting that the show is still popular, Murphy said, “so
many young people now watch it, and I’m like, ‘‘’Maybe we should revisit that show’. “My nostalgia and love for that show is enough that I’m like, ‘Well, maybe people would like to see a new incarnation of that in some capacity.’ So yeah, I love that show, and I loved what it became and what it meant to so many people.”
Murphy has noted that nobody has read the script just yet; noting that he wanted to complete a couple scripts first. And the show has yet to be attached to any studio.
Everything is still in the preliminary stages before any shooting can begin.
During its original run “Glee” earned two Emmys, four Golden Globes, and 15 Teen Choice Awards.
The show also launched a number of stars including Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Jenn Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Heather Morris, Dianna Agron, and Jane Lynch.
The series was as well known for its guest stars as it musical collaborations including Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jonathan Groff, Pati LuPone, Victor Garber, Josh Groban, and Neil Patrick Harris.
