Filing a law suit is serious business; especially when it carries a $10 Billion price tag.
Last December, the current White House resident filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC – British Broadcasting Company – citing “defamation as well as deceptive and unfair trade practices”.
But unlike previous lawsuits against media outlets, the BBC did not “roll over and play dead” but instead fought back and is fighting hard.
A big part of any suit is the “discovery” where both sides have to “show their cards”.
When a demand for financial records by the BBC resulted in an attempted court ruling and subsequent withdrawal of the financial aspect of the suit; the BBC is looking to question family members but once again are being thwarted, this time by Secret Serivice personnel.
The BBC is not “going quietly into this good night” but are seeking assistance from the courts to deliver the subpoenas to require testimony from Ivanka Kushner, Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr citing “personal knowledge” and possible records of the events surrounding the suit.
The suit itself relates to allegations surrounding a documentary from 2024 that includes an edited speech on January 6, 2021 prior to protesters attacking the United States Capitol as members of Congress worked to certify the results of the 202 presidential election.
According to the suit, the BBC was
“splicing together two entirely separate parts of President Trump’s speech” to “intentionally misrepresent the meaning of what President Trump said.” Calling it “a brazen attempt to interfere in and influence the 2024 U.S. presidential election”.
The BBC has since apologized for the “misleading edit”; adding that it had not defamed him.
