Rush drummer Neil Peart died in January 2020 as the result of brain cancer, just weeks before the world was shut down over a pandemic. 

Next month as a part of the Toronto International Film Festival, will be a new documentary – “Neil Peart: Non One’s Disciple” – making its world premiere.

Directed by Scott McFadyen and Sam Dunn, the documentary follows a young Peart and his humble beginnings through to his iconic status as the drummer for the Canadian rock trio Rush.  The film features appearances from Rush bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson; as well as, other drummers.

The documentary also includes live performances from Rush with The Police’s Stewart Copeland, Tool’s Danny Carey, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree and King Crimson filling in on the drums.

The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 10 through 20 with “Neil Peart: Non One’s Disciple” debuting on September 16.  A public screening is set for September 19.

The Canadian television network CBC will premiere the film on September 23 as a part of the series “The Passionate Eye”.
