I am an avid but picky reader.
I will on occasion try out a new author if something sounds really interesting, but for the most part I stick to a limited list of authors. My one exception is books from the original “Star Trek” series.
The trouble is most of my favourite authors have died!
Alistair MacLean died back in 1985, even before I started reading his books!
Tome Clancy, Clive Cussler, and Jack Higgins are all gone now; which leaves James Rollins and Daniel Silva.
Since Daniel Silva has retired his main character from the equivalent of the Israeli Secret Service, the stories while good are not as exciting. At least there’s still the art.
James Rollins writes a series of Sigma Force – a group of former military personnel who have been retrained in the sciences. And together they solve all manner of “end of the world” mysteries and threats. I learn quite a lot when I read his books.
Rollins writes some pretty heavy stuff, so when I finish one of his books, I have to pick out some lightweight material to follow it up. “Star Trek” is pretty good for that. 🙂
I think a dinner date with James Rollins could be VERY interesting; especially if I could “pick his brain” on how he comes up with this stuff!
He insinuated that one of his characters died in one book…but came back. I haven’t read that one yet, but I sure need to! Monk has a super-duper fancy prosthetic hand and at the end of the one book Monk appears to have died and when his wife gets his possessions – including the hand – its sending a message!!
I read one time about an author who collects all kinds of bits of information and when he plans a book, he picks out some of them. I can’t remember who it is but it might be Rollins.

I have always loved reading books. The library is my favorite place to go check out books. I have a variety of genres that I love reading. Today I checked out Clive Cussler / Typhoon Fury. After I finish my third load of laundry I will start reading his book. I’m a big fan of his work. I also love to buy books for my collection. On my to buy list is David Baldacci / The Collectors. I loved his The Camel Club book. Happy reading. 📚
LOL, why wait, I read while I do the laundry😀
Never go anywhere without my Kindle.
I love listening to my music cd collection while I read. Enjoy your kindle.
