After making its debut in 2024 on Broadway, Sting has re-worked his musical “The Last Ship” and will present the re-imagined musical on the West End next month in a very limited engagement.
Sting himself will play the lead role of Jackie Whilte. Joining the rocker will be reggae star Shaggy for the Sept 22 and 23 performances with Lejaun Sheppard as the Ferryman for the remainder of the run, Declan Bennett, Frances McNamee, Jackie Morrisson, Cassiopeia Berkeley-Agyepong, Matt Beveridge, Joe Caffrey, Duane Gooden, Hannah Richardson, and Adam Strong.

The son of a milk man, a young Gordon Sumner was fascinated by the shipyard in town. “The Last Ship” follows the ship builders as they face the closing of the shipyard.
Speaking on the musical in a statement Sting said, “I grew up in the shadow of the shipyard. I’d watch thousands of men walk to work each morning, but I dreamed of something else… I dreamed of escaping, and I did everything in my power to get away from that life. But the farther I got, the more I realized I needed to understand where I came from and felt I had to give something back. ‘The Last Ship’is my tribute to the people and the place that shaped me.”
