What is your favorite quote?

This was an easy one…

“Music is the greatest drug in the world…and best of all, it isn’t bad for you”

Originally it was “Music is the greatest drug in the world…and best of all it’s free and isn’t bad for you”.

But with all the places that used to be free for listening to music are disappearing.

The quote is mine.

One day while doing an interview, I made the remark that music was the greatest drug in the world and the person I was interviewing added the and it isn’t bad for you.

Doctors are finally beginning to understand how impactful music can be in healing people.

Every musician I know who has played for a memory car facility tells stories of patients to have not responded to anything – sometimes in years – responded to the music; even people who have not spoken begin singing along with the songs they knew when they were young.

Can you imagine a memory care facility filled with metal heads????

Music can be calming in times of anxiety
Music can get you dancing – music plays, I start moving
Music can make you happy when you are sad
Music marks special occasions and can trigger memories

I have to admit that there have been more than a few times that I have had to cover an event and didn’t really feel like going; but it never failed that once the music started, I felt better.

Meds have their places; but there’s nothing like a warm shower, a nice bowl of Jewish Penicillin (chicken noodle soup 🙂 ), and some good tunes to make you feel better!
