A distant cousin – Robert Fulghum – wrote a book titled “All I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”. One of the things in that book was sharing!
Something families with multiple children learn in infancy; but evidently they have forgotten the skill or in some cases have never learned it.
Today that skill seems to be lost far more than at any other time.
The worst example sits in the White House with the most powerful job in the Nation, but spends much of his time pitching tantrums like a spoiled brat two-year-old, than acting like a responsible adult who shares his spotlight with those who have gone above and beyond to help the country. Hoarding funds instead of sharing them with communities who have had their homes destroyed by storms and fires is not sharing but vindictive.
Always having to hog the spotlight…or attention…instead of sharing with others in the room seems to have overtaken baseball as the national pastime.
The “if I can’t have my way, I’m going to take my ball and go home” attitude instead of sharing the ball has taken over common sense in America.
It seems the days of a room full of musicians throwing a single pencil back and forth to make notations and note changes has been replaced by I want my own pencil or I am going home. BTW: the pencil throwing is a real event…during an episode of “Live from Daryl’s House” Daryl was in California to play with the surviving members of The Doors. They had one pencil and were throwing it back and forth – and catching it too – to make their notes.
The simple act of sharing, in all its forms, has been lost along with script writing; both of which need to make a revival.
