I’m sure by now half the world knows that I have a Kindle and love reading with it.
I bought my first Kindle shortly after they came out and have had a few since then – dropping them on concrete isn’t a good thing.
I truly believe that Kindles, e-readers, and tablets will be around for some time to come.
A fan of “Star Trek”, the “New Generation” and in nearly every episode, someone has a tablet of some kind that is synced to the main computer.
My Kindle does have an internet function, but isn’t nearly as good as my tablet or lap top.
When I was in college, I took a class about programming a computer…not like we do today, but physically wiring the computer to do what you want it to do. And when you needed it to do something else, then you had to pull the panel out and re-wire it.
Today, we have lap tops, tablets, and phones that will do almost anything we ask it to do.
In another 100 years, there is no telling what computers will be able to do…maybe they will be like the ones on “Star Trek” that not only talk back but can help solve problems and other issues.
This is the age of AI where computers can answer questions posed to it.
I have on occasion asked my co-pilot questions simply because it was easier than looking things up.
And while I don’t mind getting some help from my computer and love having a library in my hand – a library filled with books I want to read; I do not want a computer to run my life and think for me. Let’s hope they never come to that.

I couldn’t agree more. The Kindle is one of those rare pieces of technology that genuinely improves the experience it was designed for. It’s simple, portable, distraction-free, and puts an entire library in your hands. As someone who loves to read, it’s hard to imagine a better companion.
I never leave home without it!😊
