Are you a lifelong learner?
That would have to be an absolute yes!
I am always learning something; from my books, watching sports on the tele, and all the news stuff I see – although some of that is very suspect and is a learning experience of its own.
A TV show I like called “NCIS: New Orleans” the main character Dwayne Pride played by Scott Bakula is always telling his team to go out and “learn things”. That’s me; I am alway trying to learn things.
I am a big time reader and granted 99% of the books I read are fiction – thrillers and the like – but the authors I enjoy have a good bit of factual information in their works. I use a Kindle and can highlight stuff. There are some of my books that that coloured highlights all over the place with things I wanted to go back and see…if I can find the time. 🙂
Daniel Silva’s series with Gabriel Alon has a main character who among other things is one of the world’s foremost art restorers and he specializes in the Masters. He even does work for the Vatican. I learn about art from him.
James Rollins has a Sigma series where his operatives are former military who have been trained in scientific areas – lots to learn there; and there is a lot of ancient history in there too.
Love those stories about archeology and finding ancient artifacts! (The Indiana Jones type stuff – find the artifact before the bad guys and save the world).
Alistair MacLean is a writer who was great at not revealing the “bad guy” until the end, was very descriptive but light on violence and profanity. “He carried on a dialogue that was unprintable” or “He cussed for five minutes and never said the same word twice”. Enough said!
Instead of a lot of blood and gore, he might say “A rose formed on his forehead.”
Dale Brown is a former Air Force guy and writes a lot about planes and military stuff. Very educational.
And of course, I also work on learning to play my guitar and new music.
Watching “Live from Daryl’s House” has taught me a lot too. And introduced me to some good music; some of which is now in my playlist.
I grew up watching baseball and football with my dad and have added NASCAR and sled hockey. Lots to learn there!
In this day and age, it would be an extremely difficult task NOT to learn things; it’s everywhere you turn!

Indeed! 👍
