The 2026 – 78th annual – Prime Time Emmy Awards have been announced with the drama “The Pitt” and the comedy “Hacks” dominating the list with two dozen nominations each; setting a new record.  This is the final season for “Hacks”.

The winners will be announced on September 14 in a live television event with actress and Broadway star Mariska Hargitay hosting the gala.

Rob Reiner received a posthumous nomination for his performance in “The Bear”, Taylor Swift earned five nominations for her Era’s Tour, and Latin music star Bad Bunny earned a whopping NINE nominations for his Super Bowl halftime show!

The White House may abhor late night television; Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel in particular; but the Emmys think otherwise with Colbert earning nine nominations; while Kimmel earned six.

Other programs that earned multiple nominations; “Wido’s Bay”, “Pluribus”, “Beef”, “DTF St. Louis”, “Saturday Night Live”, “Spider-Noir”, “The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny”, “The Beast in Me”, “Fallout”, “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms”, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, “The Oscars”, “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, “Shrinking”, “Slow Horses”, “The Bear”, and “The Gilded Age”.

The streaming services topped the list of nominees with HBO Max earning 122 nominations; followed by Netflix with 111, and Apple TV with 87.  ABC was the first of the network channels with just 38 nominations.
