In a follow-up to my “Flections on History” post…

Recently “Native News Online” (a Native American newsletter) conducted a survey asking “If you were to grade America (A, B, C, D, or F) on how well the nation is living up to the ideal that “all men are created equal” at the 250th anniversary of the United States, what grade would you give it?”

The survey ran in the week before Independence Day.

The survey was only one question and did not ask whether the person answering was a Native American or not; nor did it ask anything about political affiliations.

A resounding majority gave the country a failing grade.  In fact, less than five percent of those who answered the question gave the United States an A or B!

Over half – 55% – of the people who answered the question gave the USA an F with another 32% giving the nation a D!

While only 460 people answer the question, it is a telling response about the direction of the nation.

No matter how hard the administration tries to erase historic events, they cannot change the fact that generations of people were enslaved; while entire populations were wiped out simply because is misconceived perceptions.

A poll conducted by PBS News?NPR/Marist reflected some similar sentiments with ”83% of U.S. adults say America has moved away from its founding principles.”
