What do you love now, that you hated when you were younger?
Rock Music!
As I have mentioned many times before, I grew up in a Classical music home. My dad is a Classically trained pianist with a degree in music.
He didn’t pursue a career in music because he objected to the way the business was run; but he did teach piano for a while and played for many different churches.
At home the closest we came to anything non classical was “The Ed Sullivan Show” on Sunday nights. “American Bandstand” was a big no-no. Daddy said it was garbage.
But one year, we all got a clock radio as a gift. The hint was it’s time to get yourself up for school. But that little radio opened up a whole new world of music.
I drifted toward the softer side of rock but my older brother was a rocker. When he decided to play drums and had a set in his bedroom, he chose what is known today as hard rock. All we heard were the drums…his, but occasionally he would crank up the tunes…dad wasn’t home. 🙂
Little brother grew up with the sound of the 70’s and still enjoys that era of music.
Since those days, my musical tastes and education have expanded greatly and I listen to a wide variety of music…including some of the “noise” my brother listened to when playing drums.
I still don’t like the really hard stuff and various forms of metal but my playlist includes an AC/DC and KISS song and there are a few of Ozzy’s softer songs I like. And I have friends that play rock music I like. I have even become a Pink Floyd fan! Missed the original, but The Machine has it going on! Four times and counting. 🙂
A friend and I have been known to crank it up on the classic rock station in her car.
I’m willing to give anything musical a try at least once; otherwise how will I know if I like it or not???
