The Tony Awards won’t happen until Sunday night (June 7), but the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing have handed down a couple of non-competitive awards a couple of days early.
Music director and activist Mary-Mithcell Campbell was presented with the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for her extensive work.
Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and book writer James Lapine was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Tony Award.
Nine time Tony Award winning lighting designer Jules Fisher was also presented with the Lifetime Achievement Tony Award.
And the Artistic Director for the Lincoln Center Theater Andre Bishop also received a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award.
Billed the biggest night on Broadway, the 79th annual Tony Awards makes a return to Radio City Music Hall with music star P!nk hosting the gala event.
