After losing his ride when AM Racing closed down, Nick Sanchez has been out of NASCAR; but the new O’Reilly Autop Parts Series racing team Peterson Racing ha hired Sanchez for at least four races.
Currently, Austin Green drives the number 87 Peterson Racing car and was quite surprised when he learned his full time ride was not going to be a full season.
Green noted, “I trust G-d that everything happens for a reason. My focus remains on working hard and being ready for the opportunity to return to the No.87 for the remainder of the season.”
He added, “unfortunately, I will not be competing in four of the next six races due to the team’s decision. While this is an unexpected pause during my first full-time season, I remain committed.”
Speaking on earning an opportunity to drive once again Sanchez said, “I am excited and ready for this opportunity with Peterson Racing. The Peterson Racing organization has all the pieces in place, and I hope to be a great asset to their growth. I have been in a similar situation before with their team alliance and am familiar with the people and processes.”
Peterson Racing crew chief Jody Measamer spoke on Nick Sanchez joining the team saying, “we are excited to have Nick join the Peterson Racing team. We are in a growth process with our program with our sights set on expanding to a multi-car operation in the future and this allows us to have a second driver in our cars at this point. The goal is to provide additional input and help us build our program further. Austin has been instrumental in our growth thus far and will continue to be a valuable asset to Peterson Racing.”
Sanchez came to NASCAR via the Diversity program and became the ARCA Menards Series champion on 2022. He has also driven in the Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
