I am an avid reader!
I read every day!
Sometimes I only get reading time when I go to bed; other times I get long periods of time, like when I am doing the laundry.
The past few years I have read over 50 books each year and am nearly halfway there this year.
Do I honestly remember the very first book I read???
No!
Unless you want to count “See Spot Run” 🙂
Actually, my very first books were talking books and I could not tell you anything about any of them; even if my life depended on it. The only thing I remember is one of the people that read the books; his name was Alexander Scorby and he was one of the best readers I have ever heard. He could express emotions and make every scene sound interesting; all without any cray sound effects and so forth.
I do remember a series I used to read; it was about a group of six children – The Hollister Children – who solved mysteries…kind of like “The Hardy Boys” or “Scooby Doo”.
As a third or fourth grader, they were fine.
Later, I discovered “The Box Car Children” – a family of four orphaned siblings who lived in a box car so they could stay together as a family and experienced a number of adventures.
These days, its spy novels, espionage/counter espionage, and “Indiana Jones/save the world type books.
