What’s a show that had the perfect series finale?

I admit, I love intelligent shows with multiple layers. “Forever Knight” is a perfect example. Nick Knight – played by Gerain Wyn Davies – is an 800 year old vampire…but, he doesn’t want to be a vampire anymore. Although, he doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of his vampirey skills when the opportunity presents itself.

Oh, and he is a Toronto police detective!

He has a “thing” for the lady coroner/forensic pathologist. And she is trying to help him find his way back to being human again.

Oh, and she REALLY has a “thing” for him!

The show only ran three seasons 🙁 but it had some interesting story lines. Every episode had some historic element from Nick’s past that in some way tied to the current storyline. (Love that part).

In the final episode his partner, who has a vampire friend of her own, doesn’t know about Nick (the vampire part). She gets shot and dies. Nick decides that it is time to move on but he isn’t sure about leaving his human “girlfriend” behind.

She convinces Nick that she wants to join him in the vampire world.

The final shot in the series is Natalie (coroner girlfriend) laying in Nick’s arms because he apparently took it too far and she is dead.

It was the perfect ending because it brought closure to the series but if at some point it were to be revived, it left the perfect spot for a new series with lots of options…did he really kill Natalie? Was she alive enough for him to “bring her across”? Did he just leave her where she lay?

Oh, (yeah, I know) he wasn’t alone in the room at the end. His “father” (vampire who brought him across) was there. All through the series, he kept trying to thwart every one of Nick’s attempts at a return to humanity.

In the end, he thinks he has succeeded…but has he???
