Known as “America’s Pastime” for over 100 years, Major League Baseball has planned a number of events to mark the founding of the nation.
MLB Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Partnerships Uzma Rawn Dowler spoke on upcoming events saying, “baseball has been part of the fabric of American life since the sport’s creation, bringing people together through shared traditions, unforgettable moments and the simple joy of spending time at the ballpark with family and friends. Baseball brings Americans together, so as the National Pastime, we are proud to celebrate this special anniversary and to provide even more opportunities for people nationwide to engage with our sport this year. By creating these special opportunities honoring the country’s founding, we hope more fans than ever will enjoy memorable moments with baseball.”
It all begins with a national campaign displaying how baseball has unified America via a number of broadcasts. The first features Quinta Brunson and shots from some of the 30 MLB ballparks. Commemorating 50 years since its release, the spot will include a previously unreleased recording of “American Girl” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Forming a state-by-state journey, this series shows how baseball mirrors the pulse of the nation by highlighting a unique diamond sports story from each of the 50 United States.” It begins with a midnight sun game in Alaska.
“Ballpark Expedition” celebrates “the individuality of MLB ballparks”. Available via the MLB digital platforms beginning June 1, the interactive elements include “Journey to 30 Sweepstakes”, “Ballpark Guides”, and “Journey to 30 Road Trip”.
