Many parts of the country are experiencing a drought, some very serious, and the rains are welcome…except for when it comes to racing.

NASCAR has cancelled qualifying for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Charbroil 300.  With 38 teams bringing cars for the race everyone will start with the lineup set by the NASCAR metric.

With track events ., broadcast networks are airing tributes to Kyle Busch who died suddenly May 21 at the age of 41.  With 234 wins across all three racing series, Busch set records across the board with the most career wins in the Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

After his Truck Series win at Dover Motor Speedway last week, he noted that you should enjoy them all because you never know when it will be the last one.

Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for a total of 200 laps around the 1.5 mile track.

Hot dog champ Joey Chestnut gave a rousing command to start the engines.

Denny Hamlin joins Adam Alexander and Jamie McMurray in the broadcast booth.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Corey Day alongside.  Allgaier gets out in front quickly.  Drivers are getting three wide on the track.

Sam Mayer comes up on the inside to battle with Justin Allgaier for the lead.

The first caution flag of the race comes out on lap two when Harriton Burton spins out with a lot of smoke after contact from Jesse Love.

Sam Mayer brings the field down for the green flag restart with Justin Allgaier alongside as the sprinkles begin.  NASCAR keeps the cars moving under caution.

The lights are out on the caution car and Sam Mayer brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 12.  Mayer edges out for the lead.  Drivers are three wide on the track.

The top five are Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, Corey Day, Connor Zilisch, and Austin Hill.

Lap 14, Justin Allgaier comes up on the inside to pass Sam Mayer for the lead.

NASCAR has called for a competition caution flag on lap 25 to give the crews a chance to check the car and tire wear.

Lap 17, the top five are Jusitn Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Connor Zilisch, Austin Hill, and Corey Day.

Lap 19, Justin Allgaier has pulled out to a near second and a half lead on Connor Zilisch; Corey Day, Sam Mayer, and Austin Hill round out the top five.

Lap 23, Justin Allgaier has increased his lead to over a second and a half on Connor Zilisch; Corey Day, Ross Chastain, and Brandon Jones round out the top five.

Lap 25, Justin Allgaier has a near two second lead on teammate Connor Zilisch.

Lapa 26, NASCAR puts out the yellow flag for the competition caution.

Andrew Patterson is driving the number 32 car this week.  He was one of Jordan Anderson’s first employees in the shop.

The drivers come down pit road for service and adjustments with Justin Allgaier winning the race off of pit road.

The sprinkles have returned and the cars are still under caution.

Lap 32, NASCAR is bringing the cars down pit road to wait out the rain.  The track drying machines have been deployed.  NASCAR has told the drivers to stay in their cars.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag and told the drivers that they can get out of their cars…but stay close.

Justin Allgaier said that tomorrow is daughter Willow’s fifth birthday and all she has asked for is that dad win the race.

The drivers have been called to their cars and are preparing to get the race going again.

The engines have fired!

The red flag has been pulled and the yellow flag is out as the drivers get moving after a four hour and 22 minute delay.  There are 12 laps remaining in stage one.   

Some of the drivers come down pit road for service but leaders stay out.

Drivers come down pit road for service and pit road is very busy with the entire field coming in for service.  Justin Allgaier wins the race off of pit road.  Austin Hill comes out second to advance nine spots.  Allgaier took fuel only.  Austin Hill took only two tires.  The first driver on four fresh tires is third place driver Connor Zilisch.

After staying out on the track, Blaine Perkins brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with Justin Allgaier alongside on lap 52.  Perkins edges out for the lead but Justin Allgaier moves up on the outside to take the lead.

Brent Crews and Harrison Burton’s cars are on the wreckers.  NASCAR has changed the crash policy for the Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Series to allow crews to work on the cars in the garage like they do in the Cup Series.  A crew has one chance to make proper repairs and meet minimum speed before they are out of the race.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart with Austin Hill alongside on lap 59.  Allgaier edges out for the lead but Austin Hill comes up on the outside to take the lead.. Ross Chastain passes Austin Hill for the lead.

The caution flag comes out on lap 61 when Sam Mayer gets into the wall with a flat tire.

The visibility ceiling is dropping, making it difficult for the spotters to see the cars on the backstretch.

The top five are Ross Chastain, Austin Hill, Jesse Love, Justin Allgaier, and Corey Day.

Ross Chastain brings the field down for the green flag restart with Austin Hill alongside on lap 67.  Drivers get three wide in a battle for the lead.  Jesse Love gets out in front with Ross Chastain in second.

Lap 69, Ross Chastain comes up on the outside to pass Jesse Love for the lead.

Lap 70, Jesse Love and Ross Chastain continue to battle for the lead with Corey Day looking to make it a three way battle.

Lap 72, Jesse Love leads the race but Ross Chastain comes up on the inside for the lead.

Ross Chastain hits the wall but holds on to the lead.

The caution flag comes out on lap 73 for possible fluid on the track.

Justin Allgaier has fallen out of the top five to eighth.

Dawson Cram is on pit road after a mechanical issue – possible oil pump belt.

Sheldon Creed also crashed after getting into the oil on the track.

The top five are Ross Chastain, Jesse Love, Austin Hill, William Sawalich, and Corey Day.

Justin Allgaier is on pit road for repair damage.  Taylor Gray and Jeremy Clements are also on pit road for repairs after getting into the oil spill.

NASCAR is bringing the drivers down pit road.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag once again.

NASCAR has just called the race with Melon Man Ross Chastain wins the race. 

The race is considered official once it reaches the end of stage two or halfway.

Ross Chastain said that he doesn’t grasp how Kyle Busch is not at the track racing.

Jesse Love said that he was mad; adding that there are things more important than a trophy.

Before smashing his watermelon, Ross Chastain gave a tribute to Kyle Busch with Busch’s signature showman’s bow.
